The light spreading a little further each day but the nights still long and the air still biting. For a few weeks I woke every morning to watch the sun appear over the sea, the red ball rising, the light bleeding, orange throwing my shadow across the bedroom. I counted the hours until I could watch it sink again. A slippery sun, a double vision, another wind storm. Most nights my dreams have been flooded in water, bathed in never-ending night and I am usually faced with a choice of an unknown, a danger or a retreat. I’ve been sitting with unknowns with these paintings, understanding them as I go; they are markers of time, of feeling, of being.”
